The area behind the buildings on Garnett Street to William Street on the block of Montgomery to Winder Streets is where downtown business employees and residents that live in 2nd and 3rd story apartments park.
This area has become uneven and filled with huge potholes. It is a common misconception that the City of Henderson owns this lot. The City does not own this lot. In fact, it’s not even any sort of official parking lot. It just so happens that there is some space between the back side of the buildings and the railroad tracks and people park there. Still, this area is crucial in that it provides needed parking space to about 30 cars daily. Without this area, these cars would fill Garnett Street, blocking downtown visitors from finding easy parking.
Since the City of Henderson does not own this area, the HVDDC has taken the role of fixing some issues.
In 2016, the HVDDC performed Landscaping services for this neglected area. You can read more about that here: http://homeinhenderson.com/2016/10/07/business/henderson-vance-downtown-development-commissions-performs-landscaping/
On March 22, 2017 the HVDDC laid gravel and spread across the area to eliminate the huge potholes and make this parking area much more useful.
The HVDDC can greatly use your donation to help cover the costs associated with this project. Please check our Donation page here.
